Shri Vijay Prasad Singh, Director, Department of Heavy Industry

Shri Vijay Prasad Singh, Director, DHI is a Science Graduate (B.Sc) from Calcutta University. He is a qualified Cost Accountant (ICWA) and had pursued L.L.B also from Gorakhpur University. During a career spanning of more than 30 years, he has diversified and versatile professional experience encompassing strategic as well as legal and financial areas in various capacities in various Ministries and Government Departments. He started his career in 1987 from Railways as Accounts Executive. He is an Indian Cost Accounts Service Officer (1996 batch) and had worked in Central Excise and Customs and Service Tax Commissionerate, Kanpur as Assistant Director (Cost) from the year 1997 to 2003.


During the period 2004-2006, he worked as Deputy Director (Cost) in the Department of Heavy Industry (DHI). From 2007 to 2009, he handled the finance functions related to Government procurements in Department of Supply, (DGS&D). In mid-2009, he went on deputation under the Central Staffing Scheme to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and served there in the capacity of Deputy Secretary and Director and looked after many subjects including regulation of health services, law and policy making.


Shri Singh was also associated for a short period of one year with AIIMS, New Delhi as Financial Advisor. In 2015, he joined the Department of Heavy Industry (DHI) and has been handling various CPSEs under it. He has also been handling various subjects in the Department as Director (Coordination). He is currently on the Board of three CPSEs as Government Nominee Director.
